You can upload your poem to be visualized using the form below:

How to prepare the data?

For each poem to be visualized, the tool requires two pieces of essential data:

  • the poem itself in the ordinary English alphabet, and
  • a phonetic translation in International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) of the poem.

The easiest way to obtain IPA translation is to use PhoTransEdit. (Note: If the "Keep important punctuation" in PhoTransEdit is "off", please tick the checkbox to "switch" it on.) The poem and its IPA transcription can then be pasted into the two boxes below.

It is important that both the poem and its IPA transcription have the same structure. This means that both need to have the same number of words per line and lines per stanza (verse paragraph). For example:

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
həmp.ti dəmp.ti sæt ɑːn ə wɒl,

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty together again.
həmp.ti dəmp.ti sæt ɑːn ə wɒl,
həmp.ti dəmp.ti həd ə ɡreɪt fɑːl.
ɒl ðə kɪŋz hɔːr.səz ənd ɒl ðə kɪŋz men
kʊ.dənt pʊt həmp.ti tə.ɡe.ðər ə.ɡen.

Copy the poem into the top box and the IPA transcription into the bottom box. When you are ready, press Upload Data & Check. This will make sure that both the poem and IPA transcription are the same structure as the examples above.
